The timeline may depend on the resident’s goals, progress with routines, income and housing plan, outside support, household fit, and program rules. Longer is not automatically better, and leaving quickly is not automatically progress.
When should the next-step plan begin?
Begin early enough that housing, finances, transportation, work, care, and support are not last-minute decisions. Review the plan as circumstances change rather than treating the first date as fixed.

Can someone be asked to leave?
Policies vary. Before moving in, ask for written rules explaining discharge, rule violations, return to use, refunds, belongings, notice, appeals, and help with a safer transition.
